چکیده
Objectives: To compare the efficacy of leviracetam and phenytoin as a sole agent in control neonatal seizure due to grade II HIE. Methodology: A Prospective comparative study was conducted ICU Combined Military Hospital Malir Cantt for 7 months from June 2020 Dec 2020. Total 60 cases HIE perinatal asphyxia were reported during period enrolled using simple consecutive sampling technique. Their demographic data, clinical features frequencies selected known risk factors recorded. The samples randomized into two groups alternate Group given I/V Phenytoin while group B Laveracetam. response measured terms with single drug. Results: Out neonates 35(58.33 %) preterm. Observed included gestational diabetes 14(23.3%), pregnancy induced hypertension 10(16.7%), meconium stained liquor 9(15%), fetal bradycardia 8(13.3%) maternal infections 2(3.3%). alone controlled seizures 22 (73.3%) found significantly better than Laveracetam which 19(63.3%) cases. (P-value < 0.001) Conclusion: Perinatal is more common preterm neonates. Gestational most factor asphyxia. first line antiepileptic

Hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy in a young man due to tramadol overdose
Objective: Tramadol is a synthetic analgesic with two mechanisms. The opioid and non-opioid mechanisms are responsible for tramadol side effects. Non-opioid side effects of tramadol are due to the reuptake inhibitions of serotonin and norepinephrine. Some of the side effects include anaphylactoid reactions, CNS depression, hypoglycemia, hypotension, respiratory depression, seizures, and seroton...
متن کاملStem Cell Therapy in Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy
Introduction there are one million deaths from asphyxia in newborn annually. Management of this newborn is only supportive. Autologuse stem cell therapy may reduce mortality and long term morbidity. Outcome of asphyxiated newborn is related to damage CNS cells. Stem cells prevent Apoptosis and induce repairmen of injured neurons. Methods in a review study all article related to three keyword...
متن کاملHypothermia in neonatal hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE).
Neonatal hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) significantly affects neurodevelopment in infants and is also considered as an important cause of neonatal deaths worldwide. Medical research is being focused worldwide for the development of therapeutic avenues but it is still managed by supportive care. The latest studies in the above field have shown the efficacy of prolonged cooling of neonate'...

Investigators from Washington University St. Louis studied the impact of electroencephalographic monitoring of neonates with Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy (HIE) and their degree of MRI injury and neurodevelopmental outcomes when increasing seizure burden was present.
متن کاملNeuroprotective Strategies after Neonatal Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy
Neonatal hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) is a devastating disease that primarily causes neuronal and white matter injury and is among the leading cause of death among infants. Currently there are no well-established treatments; thus, it is important to understand the pathophysiology of the disease and elucidate complications that are creating a gap between basic science and clinical trans...
